A sad but happy day

FINALLY Snowy gave birth today, just when we were least expecting it!  I was literally going out of the door! She had 3 boys.  Unfortunately the first was stillborn.  I tried to stimulate it to breathe but it was apparent that it was too late.  The second was fine, started sqeeking almost straight away but then the 3rd was again stillborn.

So its a sad but happy day.

I was privalleged to be there for this birth, i was very surprised by how quickly guineas give birth!! Just wish it had had a better outcome.  But little 'Freddy' as the kids have called him, is thriving.  Hes the spit of his mum!!!

Ruby and Princess are next but i dont think that that will be for a while

Snowy's pregnant!!

FINALLY shes definately pregnant!  Which is typical as i didnt want her to be now!  She took so long to get preganat that shes now over the advisable age to breed from for the first time.  I removed her from Patch over 2 weeks ago!

So whilst im very excited cos i love this part, the watching their bellys grow and watching their tummies move and of course feeling the babies kick, the waiting with excitement for the arrival, the wondering how many, what sex, what colour they will be ..... but now im also worried.

Well the babies are well and truely moving in there so im guessing it will be within the next week that they pop!  Hoping it wont be for the next 2 days as im going away for new years eve!

Anyway hopefully i will have good news to report soon

Happy new year everyone!

CHAOS! haha

Well we FINALLY moved house after yet another delay.  Life is now rather chaos. Theres loads to do on the new house and unfortunately theres not as much space in the new house.

Snowy still isnt showing any signs of being pregnant!!  Despite having been with Patch for a while now.

Ive now put Sally & Snowy in with Patch and ive put Ruby & Princess in with stripes.  So hopefully (fingers crossed) there will be the patter of tiny feet soon ????

Its nearly christmas time!  So Merry Christmas to everyone!! :)

oh my gosh so much has happened!

Thought it was high time that i updated this!

Ruby gave birth to 2 babies on 15th February 2008.  Just when we were least expecting it!

One little boy and one little girl who we named Pinky and Perky.

Sally Gave birth on 14th March 2008 again to 2 babies

And yet again, 1 boy and one girl! haha  We nicknamed these 2 Rosy and Jim

And finally ..... On 19th March, Princess after much much much waiting finally gave birth ... and one baby! hehehe  Cant believe after so much expectancy she just had the one!  Very pretty little girl she had though

Introducing little Snowy!

Since then, Pinky& Rosy have gone to a new home.  A lovely lady and her children took them in :)  Perky has been reserved and will hopefully be off to a nice new home this weekend and Snowy has also been reserved.

Which just leaves little Jim.  If he doesnt find a new home then he will stay with us and have a nice life here :)  Either way i will be happy.

Oh and yesterday (20th April) I put Ruby in with Stripes (boar) so hopefully in a few months there will yet again be the pitter patter of little feet ;)  (then shes having a break from breeding)

oh why are we waiting !

Well we are still waiting for our first babies to be born!  Ruby and Princess were due to give birth anytime from a week and a half ago!  Ruby is massive and looks like she is going to pop so it cant be long for her.  Also you can feel the babies moving in her tummy :) Princess however barely looks pregnant atall so either she is gonna have just one or 2 or she didnt conceive for quite a while after Patch was put in ???

Sally isnt due till at least another 2 weeks, again i can see no sign yet of her being pregnant but i have removed all the females from patch now and they are in their 'birthing' quarters (Ruby in one and Princess and Sally in another).

The kids are getting frustrated too! Every morning they rush downstairs eager to see if there are babies and then come up to tell me .... 'nope no babies mum' :(

I bought a baby boy rabbit a week ago.  Not sure but if it goes well selling the guineas then i may .... MAY consider trying breeding fudge too ;)  Ive called the new rabbit Tommy and hes black with a bit of white .. hes gorgeous :)

Hopefully next time i write in this i will have exciting news :)!

2 weeks (ish) till D Day!

Well we put Patch in with the girls (Ruby and Princess) and they should be due to give birth between 27th Jan and 1st Feb!

Im getting soooo excited as are the kids!

I need to buy another hutch so that i can separate the babies into boy/girl .. dont want any accidents ;)

As soon as they are born i am going to start spreading the word that i have guineas for sale.  Hopefully i will be able to find lots of good homes :)

So 2 weeks tomorrow and we go onto baby watch!!
